VCF East and Tomodatchi Life Living the Dream

Last Thursday, Tomodatchi Life Living the Dream finally released. I had been waiting for this game since it was first announced, so the day it finally came out, I bought it, hoping it would finish downloading by the time I got back from classes. Given it was a Thursday, I had two labs: Microbio lab and Organic Chemistry lab.
These classes, just like any other lab, can vary quite a bit in length. Microbio almost took the full class time. We were doing a PCR reaction and were viewing the results through gel electrophoresis. Orgo I anticipated taking quite a bit, and it did. This was a distillation, which involves a lot of waiting.
By this point, I was pretty checked out. Fatigue wise it was an alright day, although I was a bit tired. I was more excited to play TLLtD when I got home.
I finally get home, and the game wasn't done downloading yet. It was like 60% done. I was like "fine. I'll get something to eat first then by the time I'm done it should be finished." I get my lunch, and when I was done eating it still wasn't done yet. I started getting really impatient, and decided to tether using my phone. That definatly sped things up, so after about 30 minutes, I was finally able to play.
I ended up playing for the whole rest of the night, only going to bed around 12:40 AM because I ended up getting a really bad cluster headache. Like, bordering on migrane bad.

I woke up the next day, and spent the day playing LtD while painting my nails. I went with a rainbow based on the vintage Apple logo, as later that day, my dad picked me up to go to my grandfathers house. We were staying with him so we can go to VCF East the next day. We went out to an Uzbekistan restaurant, and I ended up getting dumplings filled with a single tart cherry covered with current jam and a side of sour cream. They were really good and not too sweet. Fruit based dishes are popular in central and eastern Europe. Surprising that I never had any, given my family is Polish.

Saturday we made the trip to Wall New Jersey to go to Vintage Computer Fest East. It was being hosted at an old army base. My dad, whose a bit of a weapons nerd, was checking out anything from the old Jeeps and tanks, to the small plane they had, and even all the weapons and paraphernalia they had indoors. I was more interested in the old computers, and they had them in droves. The first thing we ended up going to was the consignment, where they had all kinds of computers and parts for sale. I found an iMac G3 in Bondi Blue that I wanted so bad, but somebody beat me to it. I'm so jealous. I did end up finding an iBook G4, very similar my deceased grandmother had way back in the day. It looked to be in good condition, just really really dirty. It didn't come with a charger, so I wanted to give it a bit of thought before I committed. We went to the museum portion, and they had just about any PC from the ENIAC to the iMac G3. Outside there was all kinds of PDA, and even a section on quirky Japanese computers. In the next room, there was a tabling section, where you could set out your own exibits. My dad was more interested in the military stuff off to the side. There I found a 1970s 2-XL[the better one], an RCA Studio II, and so much more. My dad also showed me one of the first microwaves ever made. We finished off back at the consignment, and that iBook just got under my skin, so I ended up with it and a late 2013 iMac. We left not too long after. As awesome as everyone was at VCF, I can only be in tight, warm spaces for so long before my anxiety starts triggering. We were there for about 4 hours, so not too bad. Since we were in the area, we decided to go visit my grandparents. We hung out with them for a bit, and my grandmother gave me some more computers. We got back around 8 PM.

Sunday was pretty uneventful, as I just spent the day cleaning the new machines, and getting the iMac[named Roxy] set up. Yesterday was pretty boring too.

Today, I found out that one of my school's bus drivers sells old computer parts. He asked one of my friends if she can fix an old GPU. I also offered to take a swing at it if she couldn't figure it out. It sounds like it short circuited or something, but I'm not sure. I'd have to see it. I also turned on an HP Compaq[named Zeph] for the first time. She works but man did she stink. Like there was years worth of dust in her. I'm thinking server, but she has a floppy drive. IDK. I also felt like my legs were either swelling or the muscles around my shins were super tight. Not sure why. I did walk a bit to and from class, so maybe that's it. It could also be my shoes. No idea. We also looked at a bunch of dead animals for a project in biodiversity. Dead squid smell not pleasant.

That's about it. I need some sleep.
